Abstract
The paper provides a tutorial on the topic of electromagnetic interference in relation to the hospital environment. It begins with a brief resume of electromagnetic fields and some of their properties. Since these fields give rise to the unwanted interference, the paper goes on to discuss the various forms of screening available to reduce these effects. Some comments are included about the human body and its response to electromagnetic fields
