  • Abstract
In this paper, the concept of using AI methodology in a direct digital control set up is given. The basic tools of AI (learning and reasoning) must be embedded in a real-time environment, requiring special configurations of knowledge based systems. The choice of an AI tool is based on the knowledge available and the type of knowledge extraction which can be done. Relations between the type of knowledge available and the AI methodology are given
