Abstract
We developed a system dedicated to remote sensing image understanding: NEXSYS (Network Extraction System). This system extracts communication networks in SPOT images in order to feed GIS (geographic information system) for cartographic applications. NEXSYS is a frame based system built on a blackboard architecture. Networks are segmented using mathematical morphology. Geometric primitives are then extracted using Hough transform. Then at the higher level an expert module is able to process these primitives trying to recognize networks
