Abstract
Presents an inspection system designed for automatic analysis of the local uniformity of the aspect of the strip coating on a continuous galvanizing process. The inspected strip coating is considered as a textured surface. Classical texture analysis procedures are not adapted to the real-time control of large surfaces moving at a high speed in the field of view of a camera. That leads the authors to propose the characterisation of inspected texture by the density of grey level extrema. This method is well adapted to control in real-time the spangle homogeneity on a galvanized strip
