  • Abstract
An ideal cognitive radio must be able to detect primary user signals under unfavorable conditions. Especially when the hidden node problem occurs, a cognitive radio is required to detect the presence of signals under the noise floor. This paper addresses the question to what extent sub-noise detection is practically usable in a cognitive radio. Three methods based on cross-correlation are analyzed and compared.
