Abstract
This paper describes the uninterruptible battery system (UBS) which was developed by Best Power Technology, Incorporated, to extend the operating reserve time of essential systems while minimizing battery plant size. Present applications include remote telecommunications facilities, computer systems, railroad signaling locations, cellular radio locations, and uninterruptible power systems (UPS). Operating experience for over 212 system-years are used to compare reliability and cost improvement with the new system over traditional techniques
