Abstract
The problem of waveform design for frequency hopped, noncoherent m-ary FSK anti-jam communication over fast fading Rayleigh Channels is addressed. For binary FSK signaling over a frequency-nonselective, fast fading Rayleigh channel, an analytical error rate expression is derived as a function of Eb /No , modulation index, diversity order and the ratio of symbol time to fade decorrelation time. For the more general m-ary FSK, both symbol error rate and bit error rate upper bounds are obtained. Finally, methodology is discussed which makes use of these error rate expressions to optimize the trade-off between noncoherent combining losses and coherent integration decorrelation losses for fast fading.
