Abstract
We introduce the infrastructure of distributed management system for 1 Gb/s E-PON using mobile agents in this paper. The current centralized management system could be modified to support an agent-based system designed to reduce the network traffic and processing load. The importance of the mobile agents and decentralized network strategies lies on the distribution of the network management and control. These paradigms take advantage of the high computational power given to agents and decrease pressure on centralized network management systems, network bandwidth and frequency of polling. We are implementing a number of necessary elements that constitute a basic management infrastructure. They consist of mobile code deamon, mobile code, and MO(Management Object) interface components.
