Abstract :
A novel intrinsic drain-gate capacitance (CDG) feedback network (IDGCFN) is incorporated into the conventional cascode circuit configuration to implement a 10-Gb/s modulator driver in 0.18mum digital CMOS technology. The driver integrated circuit (IC) could output 3.3V output swing on a 50Omega load. The power consumption is as low as 0.36 W including the modulation current. The performances and simulation results compared with previously reported works are also shown in this paper. The proposed driver consumes the lowest power and occupies the smallest die area, and its output swing spans wider than the ever-reported CMOS laser drivers
