Abstract
A modeling framework suitable for examining human-machine interaction dynamics in the context of complex systems is described. To illustrate the basic modeling approach, the example of a simple decision aid is considered. At each decision instance, the aid makes a recommendation regarding the appropriate decision. A number of research questions remain, including the development of modeling conventions for the framework and the need to validate when possible presumed interaction variable relationships, as well as to incorporate relevant behaviors documented in the literature
