Abstract :
Wireless Distributed Sensor Networks (WDSN) for gas detection could yield to several advantages but the high power required by MOX gas sensors reduce quickly battery life. Furthermore, the need of calibration can increase sensor networks cost. This work suggests a new heating method for MOX sensors (FIGARO TGS2442) in order to increase devices battery life by a factor 30. The proposed low power mode provides more information that could simplify expensive calibration. Temperature and humidity dependency are taken into account.
