Abstract
Since existing object-oriented design methods with accompanying notation have shortcomings or require a specific environment, a new design method was introduced for an OOT (object-oriented technique) pilot project to develop switching system software. The design phase was divided into global design and detailed design. New forms of object diagrams were created to depict the is-part-of, the used, and the instantiation relations between the objects. A guideline for documentation of the design phase is presented. To demonstrate the applicability of the object diagrams to switching software, examples of the call processing subsystem are given
