Abstract :
A number of common channel signaling (CCS) network integrity issues are discussed, i.e., protocol, hardware and software diversity, congestion control, network interconnection and interoperability and regression testing. As an example of CCS vulnerabilities, the June-July 1991 CCS outages in Bell Atlantic and Pacific Bell are described. Some strategies to decrease network integrity risks are presented
