Abstract :
Using a multi-disciplinary optimization (MDO) approach to aircraft design introduces computational and organizational challenges to an aircraft design process. This paper presents an open source software tool for conceptual aircraft design called Conceptual Design Tool (CDT). CDT is developed as part of the Open Source for Concept Innovation (OSCI) project at Bauhaus Luftfahrt and addresses some organizational challenges introduced by an MDO approach to aircraft design.
