Abstract
The single-phase BLDC motor has been frequently used in electronics and vehicle parts, because it is more cost effective and has better performance than the existing induction motor. However, because of the occurrence of torque ripple and dead point (DP), which are the drawbacks of a BLDC motor, the motor has limited applications. The DP can be removed by the asymmetrical airgap of the BLDC motor. In this study, a correlation of torque characteristics according to the asymmetrical airgap length is analyzed using a finite element analysis method (FEA).
