  • Abstract
This paper describes operating analysis of metal oxide surge arrester, IEEE and Pinceti model, using ATP-EMTP. Nowadays the Provincial Electricity Authority (PEA) and the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) mostly use lightning arrester from Ohio Brass and Precise brand. The lightning arrester models base on the Ohio Brass: PVR 221617 21 kV and Precise: Precise PAZ-P09-1 9 kV 10 kA class 1 by apply standard impulse current wave (8/20 μsec). The models can predict the operation of the metal oxide surge arrester in the system within 10% errors.
