  • Abstract
Because of the widespread use of induction machines, the design of a control system, that is independent of any parameter changes, is necessary. Normally PI-controllers are used, with slip controllers, to determine the slip. The slip value is added to the synchronous frequency to achieve a certain set point value. The PI-controller is replaced with a fuzzy controller because it is independent of any changes in the system parameters. A battery operated wheelchair, using nonstandard 3-phase cage rotor induction machines is used as a drive system together with an inverter that is controlled by a microcomputer
