Abstract
This research paper reports the status of an Android based project called ´Personalized Help via crowd sourcing on Social Network´. This Android based application allows an Android user to share/edit Google maps in real time with its social network on Google Talk using the server push mechanism. By sharing Google maps in real time, the Android user can crowd source and request help or personalized help (Do you know any good restaurants around University of Toronto? OR Is there a good coffee shop around Union station?). Members from social network familiar with the area can help by plotting interesting areas in real time that gets instantly shared with the Android user. The proposed project involves several technology innovation that include efficient use of publish/subscribe design pattern, use of XMPP and deployment on a cloud computing infrastructure using Amazon EC2 instance and Google App Engine.
