Title :
The precision manufacture of anodes for magnetrons
Author_Institution :
EEV Ltd., Chelmsford, UK
Abstract :
There are four basic methods that can be used to manufacture an anode for a magnetron. These are: 1. Strap and vane fabrication; 2. Cold hobbing; 3. Photo lamination; 4. Wire EDM (electric discharge machining). The factors that have to be taken into account when selecting any of the above methods include: a. Cost; b. Tolerances required; c. Total quantity; d. Production rate; e. lead time required; f. Size of structure. The various techniques will be described and the advantages/disadvantages of each method discussed
