Abstract
A model for a fading multipath channel based on an inhomogeneous Poisson process for the multipath delays is introduced. This model is well structured and quite flexible for characterization of mobile and indoor radio environments. A Bayesian decision approach is employed for the derivation of the optimal receiver for this channel model with additive white Gaussian nose. A simplified form of the receiver is presented under the assumption of high SNR, and its performance is analyzed
