Abstract :
Summary form only given.Variable wavelength actively mode-locked fiber ring lasers are attracting great interest for a variety of applications. In such lasers, fiber Bragg gratings (FBG´s) form a convenient means to realize wavelength tuning or switching. The laser demonstrated recently has overcome disadvantages by incorporating a cavity whose lengths for all wavelengths selected by a set of discrete gratings are intrinsically identical. However, such a scheme suffers from a longer cavity and less efficient use of power because of the inclusion of a 50:50 coupler.
