    Summary form only given.The capability of rapid wavelength tuning and conversion is a long-sought-after goal in a fiberoptic communications networks. This need specially rises in designing and managing future all optical networks (AON) and ever increasing channels in fiberoptic communication systems. Currently, there are techniques for add/drop switching, however the speed of these devices (about 2 KHz) are not suitable to cover the need of the future AONs. In this paper, we report a new wavelength conversion method by utilizing an array of coherent pulses which acts as temporal grating in a dispersive medium such as an optical fiber. To describe the new method, we refer to the analogy between spatial diffraction and temporal dispersion.
