Abstract :
A measurement method was developed in order to characterize Ba/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/TiO/sub 3/ ceramics in the microwave frequency range; it allows a large range of permittivity values (from 300 to 6000) and large tan/spl delta/ values (10/sup -1/) to be measured easily and quickly. The obtained results indicate that the ferroelectric compositions have high values of dielectric losses: such materials cannot be directly used in bulk microwave devices unless material properties improvements an achieved. The influence of raw materials purity, substitutions, preparation conditions must be studied in order to evaluate the microwave potential of Ba/sub 1-x/Sr/sub x/TiO/sub 3/ ceramics.<>
