Abstract
Firstly this draft presents a discussion of the possible challenges of model transformation (MT) approaches and related issues. Then after acknowledging the great achievements and successes in MTs, we propose to study MTs from an open and general cognitive background which differs from most current practice. Issues under study cover the broad scope of openness, incompleteness, uncertainty, quality management, human vs. machine aspects, etc, in the evolving process composed of MTs. A solution framework is proposed for the advancement of the state of art.
