Abstract
A frequency domain description of signal transmission in any structured multirate systems (MRS) based on a matrix calculus is presented. Deterministic and stochastic signals are characterized by modulation vectors and quadratic matrices, respectively. MRS are described by matrices; for LTI-systems we obtain diagonal matrices. The well handy matrix concept reflects the typical physical phenomena in MRS in an exact and transparent manner. As an example, an implementation reducing the sampling rate by the rational factor 2/3 is analysed
