Abstract :
When load currents or source voltages are unbalanced or distort, UPQC can supply the load for balance and fundamental voltages, as well as the same type of currents for power sources, In this sense the compensation purpose of UPQC can be regarded as waveform compensations. This paper firstly introduced the p-q-r theory and its power definition, based on that, the improved p-q-r theory was proposed. The extraction method of compensator components was analyzed and the actual extraction methods of compensation components of UPQC were described in detail with the direct control strategy as an example. Simulation results using MATLAB/ SIMULINK show the proposed methods are feasibility and effectivity.
