Abstract :
Energy conservation has been taken as basic state policy in China for more than twenty years and China achieves great success of annual energy saving. In 2006 China Central Government firstly set up a binding target of reducing GDP energy intensity in its 11th Five-Year-Plan. With two decades of continuous efforts, for the recent 6 years from 2004, China has created an administrative oriented policy apparatus to design and implement energy-efficiency throughout the economy and try to institutionalize the policy through legislation, regulations, long and medium planning and other measures. China also achieves significant progress on important fields. The paper goes in details to probe preliminary evaluation of the target accomplishment, Finally policy suggestions are proposed for the long-term implementation of energy efficiency in China.
