  • Abstract
Summary form only given.Experiments on optical coherent control of physical systems necessarily require precise control over the amplitude and phase of the intense electric fields. Equally important are the robust measurements of these characteristics. The former is most generally done with Fourier-domain pulse shaping while the latter is made possible by techniques such as frequency resolved optical gating (FROG). We describe a single shot second harmonic generation FROG characterization of the complex femtosecond pulses shaped by the liquid crystal spatial light modulator and subsequently amplified to 1 mJ in a multipass Ti:sapphire amplifier system.
