  • Abstract
In this paper, the wind energy conversion system that uses the “Cascade technology” especially the structure of Doubly-Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) is presented and analyzed. Moreover, a simulation of this wind energy conversion system in MATLAB/SIMULINK under different wind speeds is done and the results are presented and evaluated. Furthermore, a simulation under faulty conditions is held. More specifically, the behaviour of the DFIG, when an open circuit and a short circuit in one IGBT of Rotor Side Converter (RSC) occur, is investigated for fault diagnosis and identification.
