Abstract
Ultra-wideband (UWB) coexistence analysis has been mainly based on theoretical studies, which should be completed with experimental results. Regulatory process is nowadays a hot topic both in Europe and Asia. This paper summarizes the process and results obtained from interference measurements between UWB and selected legacy services, namely GSM, DCS and UMTS. The measurement campaigns have been developed in order to quantify the impact of impulse radio (IR) UWB transmitters on selected services receivers. Protection ratios have been calculated resulting into 7 dB C/IUWB for GSM.9 for DCS and -3.3 dB (IOR/IUWB) for UMTS up to 64 Kbps.
