  • Abstract
Even though the terms of “fuzzy logic” and “fuzzy systems” are widely known, that of “fuzzy engineering” is not often used. The initiative of introducing fuzzy logic as an engineering tool originated in Japan, and by now many Japanese companies have tried to apply it consistently for designing real systems. However, the definition of “fuzzy engineering” is not clear yet. One may wonder whether it means the straightforward application of fuzzy theory, or whether it includes any new paradigm, what and can be expected from it. The author tries to answer these questions starting from the research experience at LIFE
