Abstract
The authors describe the US Army Aviation Mission Planning System undergoing test and evaluation in two operations companies of the US 82nd Aviation Brigade. They discuss the motivation for the decision aid, the development strategy pursued, the operational concept for implementation, and the technical approach which combines constraint-directed reasoning with stochastic scheduling algorithms. The implementation of the decision aid uses interactive workstation graphics technology. It is distributed at the company, battalion, and brigade level. A sequence of screen dumps illustrating operation of the system is included
