Abstract
π/4-QPSK is a suitable modulation scheme for the portable radio environment. Imperfect quadrature mixing to baseband is investigated in an additive white Gaussian noise environment. The performance degradation in bit error rate is analyzed by means of simulation. Simulations are run for roll-off factors (α) (of the spectral shaping filters) of α=0.35 and α=0.55. The results show that frequency stability techniques are necessary when implementing a baseband differential demodulator
