Abstract
Field experiments and bioessays have shown that organotin released from antifouling paints can induce detrimental effects on Pacific oyster culture as inhibition of spatfall or shell growth anomalies. Since the organotin ban in such paints (January 1982) survey data in Arcachon Bay shows that the progressive decline of tin contamination has allowed a normal spatfall and an improvement in shell quality.
