Abstract :
This paper reports our current development work on the compact optical transceiver module designed for, use with the MT-RJ connector for high speed optical data transmission applications. The key technology for realizing low cost and miniaturized outline package is a unique optical sub-assembly (OSA) design based on low cost plastic molded interconnect device (MID) technology. This small form factor (SFF) transceiver also uses a single +3.3 V custom IC that integrates all necessary drivers, repeater and control circuitry for increased reliability and low production cost by reducing the number of assembly parts. Thorough performance testing has also shown the transceiver satisfies the requirements of IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet data communication standard
