  • Abstract
Among all of the telecommunication management network (TMN) implementable functions the most critical is the network traffic management (NTM), because the data processed by this function soon looses its semantic value. Furthermore the constraints on this function become heavier and heavier. The TMN structure is based on an organized architecture with various types of operation systems (OSs). The goal of this paper is to evaluate the performance of NTM functions implemented in a basic OS. The system topology under study is made up by a variable number of network elements (NE) linked to a basic OS that is connected to a higher level OS where we have assumed all the management functions. We show the behaviour of more important performance parameters versus the number of NE obtained with a simulation model of the basic OS
