Abstract
This paper advances the concept that it may be possible as well as advantageous to eliminate the traditional direct current distribution systems from new generating stations. The latest developments in uninterruptible power supply (UPS) technology have made this option technically feasible. A traditional DC distribution system is compared to an AC distribution system supplied by a UPS to investigate the merits of the proposed approach
