Abstract
The multi-carrier (MC) technique is attractive in indoor radio communication systems. It combats frequency selectivity of the channel as well as providing spectral efficiency. In this paper performance of the multi-carrier system with BPSK modulation is evaluated over the empirical data base of 12000 impulse response estimates of indoor radio propagation channels at two dissimilar office buildings. These indoor channels have lognormal amplitude fading and modified Poisson distribution of arrival time of multipath components. Performance is evaluated in terms of the average probability of bit error as a function of signal-to-noise ratio. The influence of changing the number of tones as well as the guard interval on the average bit error rate is investigated. Degradation of the performance caused by carrier phase error is studied. Results can be used in the design and assessment of indoor wireless communication systems
