Abstract
Today´s complex products demand reliable, high quality power supply subsystems. Achieving this requirement means designing both products and processes to ensure both product reliability and process integrity. While power supply subsystems are often a critical part of a product, they are often “glossed over” in terms of reliability considerations, especially when cost of acquisition, rather than cost of ownership, is the major (or only) consideration. Design for reliability, design for quality, design for robustness and design for continuous operation under worst case temperature, voltage and loading combinations is becoming increasingly critical in many product applications, especially those in the telecommunications and medical electronics fields. Thus it is critically important to make sure that all of the components and subsystems that go into a final product have been appropriately specified, designed, verified and tested on an ongoing basis
