Abstract
The performance of a serial search code acquisition technique is analyzed for cellular CDMA networks in the case of multiple pilot signals. A general expression for the mean acquisition time is obtained by taking into account the multiple H1 regions formed by the pilot signals coming from different base stations. The probabilities of detection and false alarm are derived for frequency-selective Rayleigh fading environments under the assumption that the interference is wide-sense stationary. A numerical evaluation is performed to examine the effects of decision thresholds, post-detection integration, and fading rate, in the case where the mobile station is located around the cell boundary
