Abstract
Life-cycle cost (LCC) and logistics support analysis (LSA) are programs directed by the US Department of Defense and mandated by regulations for application to all Air Force acquisition programs. The authors contrast the concepts, techniques, and factors of the operating and support cost element of LCC with the LSA process and, in particular, the engineering data documented in the logistics support analysis record (LSAR). They show that LCC and LSA, when properly tailored and applied, are complementary concepts, and that there is a valid and direct correlation of engineering data in the LSAR with LCC modeling
