Abstract
It is demonstrated that an output feedback controller internally stabilizing a linear system can be considered as an observer which delivers an estimation for a state feedback law. This result can be interpreted as a general form of separation principle, based on which a scheme of designing low-order stabilizing controllers is proposed. The results are illustrated by an example
