Abstract :
The report describes the new control techniques used by ENEL in defining investments for MV distribution networks to meet the load growth, to improve the supply quality and the network performance and to solve critical situations due to plants obsolescence or to environmental problems. To fulfil the above mentioned goals new software, was introduced that makes use of a suitable set of indices, provided by the information system describing the MV distribution network. The indices concern quality of supply, network performance, plants obsolescence and environmental problems. The procedure guides the operator in defining the priorities of investigation among different critical circuits, in choosing the optimum reinforcement alternative for each critical situation and in defining priorities of investments among different critical situations. The report gives a description of the main indices considered in terms of actual, constraint, threshold and target values. A general overview of the different phases of the procedure is then presented: selection of the critical network situations choice of the most suitable remedies, evaluation of costs and indices improvements for each intervention considered, upstream aggregation of costs and indices improvements
