  • Abstract
The GPD data acquisition subsystem is a high resolution, multichannel, microprocessor controlled analog to digital conversion module. The first application is to a CTD (Conductivity, Temperature, Depth instrument), using conventional sensors. The GPD allows a great simplification of the analog circuitry. For example, functions such as phase sensitive detection can now be performed digitally. The combination of multiple sampling and digital signal processing, while not improving accuracy, can produce results which have a higher overall resolution than that which would be obtained by a more conventional acquisition system.
