Abstract :
In this paper, the effect of Co substitution for Fe on the magnetic properties of (Sm0. 4Pr0.6)3 (Fe1-xCox)27.5 Ti1.5 [x = 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4] is reported. All the compounds were prepared by arc melting the constituent elements under Ar atmosphere, then heat treated in an evacuated (10-6 torr) and sealed quartz tube at 1050degC for five days and subsequently quenched in ice-water mixture. Crystal structural characterizations were carried out by powder X-ray diffraction pattern studies employing Fe-Kalpha radiation. Magnetization and Curie temperature measurements were carried out employing a vibrating sample magnetometer. Easy magnetization direction (EMD) and anisotropy field were determined form the magnetically oriented powders.
