Abstract
An analysis the a variable force profile responsible for the vibration and awkward position control of linear switched reluctance motors (LSRM) is presented. The transverse force in the LSRM can be balanced by employing a second stator opposite to every stator of the single-sided configuration resulting into a double-sided stator topology. The resulting configuration also produces a better driving force profile in terms of a more constant force as a function of displacement along the axial direction.
