Abstract
Introduces two problems in cellular communication systems related to control and estimation. The first problem deals with distributed power control. It is shown that the cooperative algorithm which is a distributed, iterative algorithm to handle the static power control problem exhibits desirable convergence properties even for certain dynamic situations. The second problem deals with the tracking of mobile users by a novel registration scheme. The idea is based on the concept of a Bloom filter
