Abstract
This paper discusses the issues surrounding deployment of Internet protocol (IF) multicasting (IPmc) capabilities in an asynchronous Transfer mode (ATM) environment. It describes the approach for supporting IPmc over ATM defined in a working draft specification under development in the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), explains the MITRE Corporation´s contribution to this approach, and suggests potential extensions to this working draft specification that may be useful for supporting military applications
