Abstract
The instability problem of iterative learning control schemes caused by sampling delay is explored and discussed analytically. The inherent instability is essentially due to the high sensitivity of iterative learning control methods to the stringent initial reset condition and sampling delay resulted from discretization. A modification is proposed for iterative learning control systems to overcome the instability problem. The effectiveness is demonstrated through comparative studies on numerical examples
