Abstract
Summary form only given. Using optical waveguide configuration for electro-optic (EO) modulation offers the possibility to achieve high speed operation. Producing efficient EO modulators requires guiding regions with high EO coefficients. We report in this paper a simple method for measuring the electro-optic coefficients of waveguiding structures. This technique is based on the modification of the resonant coupling angle into the waveguide caused by the refractive index change when a voltage is applied. The setup is based on the direct use of the prism-coupling technique.
